SHOOTING IMAGE (WEEK 6) RESPONSE TO FIRST INCORRECT IMAGES...

Written response to first images produced incorrectly-

Our first attempts for creating an anthropological image were not successful as many of us in the group mid-understood the brief given. Personally I thought the main idea of this particular shoot was to show our understanding of the products we have been taught to use such as the wax and liquid latex and show through any design that we can successfully apply this to the face. However our images were meant to reference tribalism subcultural scarification that we have been researching. So my next post will show my new found experiments and idea's that I will be designing for the re-shoot of this image.

Response to first images -

As I believed the shoot was set to produce a look to prove we could use the products we had recently been introduced to I chose to create a Halloween inspired look using a lot of liquid latex that would illustrate that I could create different textures and shades on the skin to develop a realistic effect.

  • I used liquid latex, tissue and duo eyelash glue plus a lot of other shading products such as the supra-colour pallette and a range of eye shadows. I chose these specific products as they were most effective in during my trials and I thought they were the most successful when creating the look.
  • I deliberately chose to include tissue within the latex to create a rough, rigid surface above the skin making the burns/cut look much more realistic.
  • The face was noticeably still human but any viewer that quickly glanced or looked at it would look twice as the face was quite camouflaged by the products and colour. I liked my design this way as I thought it made it stand out and really created a character.
  • When first practising the application of my design I found the overall look was much more effective when I stopped being so worried and specific with where I was applying the colour variations and shades. The bruising and blood colouring looked much better when I become more confident with my brush.

Professional images...

I still quite like these images but they obviously don't reference any tribal influence.
